It’s the edge of new things tonight —
Unassuming but full of promise.

Quiet, pajama-clad homebodies
Smile and clink champagne glasses.
Laughter and smiles at home.
No more fancy frivolity on this eve.

We cheer and kiss as the ball drops
While we pick at the once-hot hors d’ouvres
That grew cold…
